Doctoral Candidate - Psychology Intern
Languages:  English, Spanish, Portugese
Ana Maia, MS, earned her Master’s in General Psychology at Adelphi University and is completing her Doctorate in School Psychology at Adelphi.  She specializes in the treatment of children and families and has worked for the past five years providing clinical services to children and adolescents with complex trauma, anxiety, and depression.  Her theoretical approach is grounded in both psychodynamic theory and cognitive behavior therapy, which allows her to approach treatment using a broad array of interventions to meet the needs of her clients, always emphasizing compassion and therapeutic alliance as the key for success.  In addition, Ms. Maia is trained in several specific evidenced-based  treatment models, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS) and Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC).  Ms. Maia is compassionate about the challenges that face children and families, and is committed to helping others gain insight into relationships and to build and strengthen bonds.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors and traveling.
