Rukiya Symister, M.A.
Doctor of Psychology Intern
Rukiya is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, and is now in New York earning her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. She is a passionate learner whose varied experience with college students, school programs, high risk youth and veteran's has taught her that there is no cookie-cutter approach to therapy.  She has advanced training in eating disorders, trauma, and chemical addiction, and strives to match each client she meets with the approaches that they feel most comfortable with and that are most benficial to them.  This may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT),  Attachment-Based Therapy, Health at Every Size, and Trauma Focused Treatment.  Rukiya is excited to spending this year at Wavelengths Psychology and is adding neurofeedback to her skill set in addition to providing individual and group counseling.  When she is not in school or at work, her interests include traveling, spending time with loved ones, hiking, and exploring new restaurants and cafés.
