Hello Everyone,
I would like to update you regarding the health precautions and therapy options at Wavelengths while our community and nation monitors the spread of COVID-19. While risk is low for many of us, everything we do to care for ourselves and our families will help the community at large.
What we are doing:
In-Person Sessions
We are so happy to begin a gradual re-opening of in-person sessions, starting mostly with Neurofeedback, in compliance with local government regulations. We will be following CDC guidelines to ensure you receive the Neurofeedback you need in a safe, healthy environment. Counseling will be considered on a case-by-case basis to either continue by teletherapy at this time or to take place via in-person sessions.
We've undertaken important new safety measures to protect you, and those with whom you come in contact, throughout your visit to our office. This is what you can expect when you visit our office:

We will get through this together.

I would like to update you regarding the health precautions and therapy options at Wavelengths while our community and nation monitors the spread of COVID-19. While risk is low for many of us, everything we do to care for ourselves and our families will help the community at large.
What we are doing:
- We are offering tele-health through phone sessions through a HIPAA compliant video platform. We are offering in-person sessions for counseling and neurofeedback on a limited basis. Please see the safety protocols below that will be utilized for in-person sessions.
- We have therapists with openings for individual therapy with adults, adolescents, children, or couples.
- If you do not have insurance, or we do not take your insurance, you may still set up a one-time low-cost supportive counseling session to help you to cope with the emotional impact of the coronavirus and social distancing. This may include such issues as managing anxiety or depression, helping your children, getting along with family, or structuring your day. You may call 1-800-871-5491 x 1 to set up your appointment for your session.
- Please note that these sessions are not appropriate for suicidal ideation or psychiatric emergencies. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, please call 911, or you may also call the Long Island 24/7 Crisis Hotline: (516) 679-1111
- If you are concerned about whether your insurance will cover a teletherapy session, please contact your insurance directly by calling the number on the card, or reach out to our office for assistance. Please note that it may take at least 24 hours to confirm, and most insurance companies are not available on weekends, so please give us the time we need to help you sort it out.
- If you are showing signs of illness, Wavelengths has temporarily suspended our late cancellation fee. Of course, please be in touch with your therapist if you need to cancel, but you will not be charged if you reach out to them prior to your session and let them know what is going on.
- Client and employee screening upon entrance, including answering a series of questions and a non-touch temperature check. A forehead temperature of 100.4 or higher, constitutes a fever according to CDC guidelines. If you exhibit a fever of 100.4 or higher, unfortunately, we will be unable to treat you that day.
- The waiting room will be closed for use. Clients will be provided with a number to text their therapist when they arrive. When the therapist is ready, they will be asked to enter and go straight into the office.
- Minors may have one adult accompany them into the session. To prevent crowding, no other visitors are allowed in at this time.
- Clients and any accompanying adult will be provided with hand sanitizer administered by staff as part of the entry process.
- Masks will be worn by staff, and gloves will be worn during neurofeedback sessions. Clients and any accompanying adult will be required to wear a mask upon entry to our office, except those with medical ADA documents showing their legal medical exemption.
- Your practitioner will strive to maintain maximum physical distance whenever possible during your session.
- Staff will thoroughly wash hands between sessions.
- Thorough cleaning and sanitization of Neurofeedback equipment and furniture will take place before and after each session.
- Frequent and routine disinfecting of the entire office will be carried out.
- Staggered entry to the office will be used to prevent crowding. You may be asked to wait outside or in your vehicle until the practitioner is ready to see you. To maximize physical distancing, we will see fewer clients each day.
- Office doors will be opened when you arrive for touchless entry. There are air purifiers in each room of the office. Offices with windows will have the windows open.
- Gloves will be provided for use of lavatories
What you can do:
- Call our office to make an appointment. If we are busy and can not pick up the phone, please leave a message. We WILL get back to you.
- Before you meet with your therapist, we will send you an intake packet. Please complete the forms and fax to 800-871-5491, or email to [email protected].
- If you are feeling scared or anxious, take a breath. One technique is to try to make each breath last longer than the one before. Move your body: go for a walk, run or bike ride or do some exercise at home. Find something creative to do: color, knit, or cook something in the kitchen. Take care of yourself. Try to get plenty of rest, eat well, hydrate, meditate, call a friend. If your children are home with you, try to enjoy this time with them before they return to school again. Stay away from social media if it is flooding you with inaccurate and frightening messages. Focus on what you can do rather than focusing on what you don’t know or can’t control.
- This time of uncertainty is no easy and we will be learning as we go. However, we can support each other by engaging in open communication and taking good care of ourselves, our families, and our communities.
We will get through this together.
