  Therapy for Adults

Book An Appointment

Ever wondered what it means to be an adult?

For most of us, adulthood just happens.  We age out of childhood and adolescence, and at some point in early adulthood are expected to be able to figure out out to manage our lives.  But what does that mean?  Being an adult involves wearing many hats, such as student, spouse, employee, manager, business owner, parent, caretaker, and friend.  It means taking on new challenges throughout our lifespan, such as relationship or career decisions, choosing where to live, dealing with health issues, planning for retirement, or caring for loved ones.  As an adult, how should we be perceiving and engaging with the world? Or handling conflict and interacting with the people around us?  How do we prioritize our goals and define our achievements?  And how do we know when to get help, and who to ask?
Therapy for Adults
Adulthood is not a magical place where we suddenly become wiser and better at life.  In fact, adults face a multitude of challenges.  Whether it's relationships, financial pressures, loneliness, depression, anxiety, health issues, or major life changes, it is important to know that you are not alone. At times it may be difficult to find people to talk to, or to allow yourself to reach out for help.  Therapy is a helpful way to slow down, evaluate your thoughts and feelings, identify solutions, or simply to have someone to talk to.  At Wavelengths you will receive supportive, professional, and confidential care.  Your therapist will work with you to gain clarity and help find the answers that are right for you.

We understand that there is no "one size fits all" approach to psychotherapy.  Therefore, treatment is tailored to the unique needs of each person participating in services.  We have therapists who specialize in psychodynamic (insight oriented) treatment, cognitive behavioral treatment, humanistic approaches, EMDR, Women's Issues, Mindfulness, and more.  We encourage you to visit our provider pages to learn about us.  Regardless of who you decide to meet with, we will provide you with a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic space, we will listen to you with respect and compassion, and we will work together with you to help you find answers.

Is Therapy Right For You?

Are you feeling more tired or irritable than usual?  Are worries keeping you up at night?  Are you fighting with family or friends, spending more time by yourself, or feeling stressed about your job?  Are you worried about a child or a loved one?  If so, you are not alone.  For every one of us, there are times in life when it's harder to feel happy or function as well as we believe we should.  Sometimes feelings become so overwhelming that we don't know where to turn.

During these times, you may benefit from a place where you can confidentially discuss your feelings, explore what is happening, and find solutions.  Therapy is the right choice for many of us at some point in our adult lives.
