Gina Fries, Intern
Massapequa Park and Telehealth Gina is completing her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Adelphi University. Her decision to pursue counseling as a second career was inspired by a long-standing career in the banking industry where she was a mentor to senior executives, colleagues, and junior staff. Gina has a special interest in helping people dealing with toxic work environments and burnout and is completing her thesis on this as well.
During the past two years Gina has been working at Adelphi University’s Center for Career and Professional Development, counseling students and alumni on their career journeys while she pursues her degree. Her clinical approach integrates evidenced-based techniques including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy to meet the specific needs of each client. Gina is especially focused on building a strong therapeutic alliance with her clients in a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment. Her goal is to help empower clients to address challenges or obstacles in order to create a more balanced and meaningful life. When Gina is not working, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, practicing yoga, walking on the beach, and reading. Gina is a student intern and sees clients at a reduced rate under the supervision of Dr. Eric Walter. She will be at Wavelengths until July 2024. |

💕 Why Choose Our Student Counselors?
- Reduced Rate: We believe that mental health support should be accessable to as many people as possible. Our reduced rates make counseling more affordable, so you can prioritize your well-being without breaking the bank.
- Quality Care and Individualized Attention: Our student counselors take a very limited number of clients so that they can devote sufficient time and attention to each person they see. In addition, between sessions they receive supervision and guidance on the work they are doing with you.
- Fresh Perspectives: Working with a student counselor can bring new perspectives and approaches to your counseling journey. Their training and education are up-to-date with the latest developments in the mental health field.
- Confidentiality: Just like with our licensed professionals, your sessions with our Student Counselors are strictly confidential.
